Powerlink begins connection works for Wambo Wind Farm

The wind farm near Jandowae has a capacity of 252MW.

Powerlink Queensland signed an agreement with the joint venture between Stanwell and Cubico Sustainable Investments to start the connection of the 252-megawatt (MW) Wambo Wind Farm to the network.

In a statement, Powerlink Chief Executive Paul Simshauser said the project would “anchor a third Renewable Energy Zone in Queensland, with a total capacity of 2,000MW.”

Simshauser added that the connection will involve the construction of 50 kilometres of a new 275-kilovolt transmission line between the company’s Halys Substation and a new substation to be built at the site of the wind farm.

The wind farm is located near Jandowae in Queensland’s Western Downs region.
