SJVN to set up four joint ventures for renewable projects in India and Nepal
SJVN will serve as a leading partner of three JVs, while its subsidiary SGEL will lead one of them.
SJVN has received approval for a proposal for four joint venture (JV) companies for the development of hydro and renewable projects in India and Nepal.
The India-based energy provider will be the leading partner of three of the JV companies, while its subsidiary SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL) will be the leading partner of the fourth.
One of the JV companies is in cooperation with Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited for the development of 5000 MW renewable projects.
The secod company is a collaborative effort with the Government of Arunachal Pradesh and M/s Navyuga Engineering Company Limited for the development of the 1878 MW Oju Hydro Electric Project in the state of Arunachal Pradesh.

The third is a collaboration with the Nepal Electricity Authority and GMR Energy Limited for the implementation of the 900 MW Upper Karnali Hydro Electric Project in Nepal.
The fourth project is between SGEL and Assam Power Development Company Limited for the development of 1000 MW renewable projects in the state of Assam.
Through the projects that add to their current 56,000 MW portfolio, SJVN will be making a significant contribution to India’s goal of 500 GW energy by 2030 from non-fossil energy sources and net-zero carbon emissions by 2070.
