U.S. accuses Korean transformer firms of unfair trade
U.S. producers of liquid dielectric large power transformers has allegedly been hurt by South Korea's allegedly unfair export of large power transformers. This was announced by the US Department of Commerce and the International Trade Commission or ITC.
The American manufacturers have filed an antidumping duty petition with the ITC, charging that unfairly traded imports of Korean LPTs are causing material injury to the domestic industry.
The ITC determined that "there is a reasonable indication that a U.S. industry is materially injured by reason of imports of large power transformers from Korea that are allegedly sold in the United States at less than fair value."
As a result, the Department of Commerce will continue to conduct its antidumping investigation of imports of those products from South Korea, the ITC said in a press release.
The department's preliminary determination on the matter is due on or around Dec. 21.
