Aboitiz Power’s earnings down 41% in Q1

Contributions from Chromite Gas and some solar plants boosted EBITDA.

Aboitiz Power Corporation has reported a net income of PHP4.6b for the first quarter (Q1) of 2025, down from PHP7.9b last year.

In a bourse filing, the company said its beneficial Earnings Before Interest, Taxes and Depreciation, and Amortization (EBITDA) for Q1 benefitted from the fresh contributions of Chromite Gas Holdings, Inc., and its 159 megawatt-peak (MWp) Laoag, 45 MWp Armenia , and 173 MWp Calatrava solar plants.

However, lower spot market prices and the upfront scheduled outages of the Pagbilao, Therma Visayas, Inc., and GNPower Mariveles Energy Center plants tempered the company’s beneficial EBITDA to PHP15.0b, which is 8% lower than last year.
