Korea investing more in renewable energy test beds
Some US$63 million to go to various RE test beds.
Renewable energy test bed projects that support the commercialization of technologies and products developed by Korean RE companies are receiving a significant financial boost.
On solar power, US$27.5 million will be invested in Gumi Electronics & Information Technology Research Institute’s solar power test bed project in Daegu and North Gyeongsang. The goal of solar power test bed projects in Chungcheong-do is to build key infrastructure designed to test technologies and products developed by solar power companies.
For wind power, US$14.9 million will be poured into wind power system test bed projects in South Jeolla Province by 2014. The amount will go to building infrastructure that will enable the test, evaluation and certification of wind power generator systems.
A total of US$17.2 million will be invested in the fuel cell test bed project in Daegu and North Gyeongsang, organized by Pohang University of Science and Technology.
