Sharp designs and manufactures electronic products. Headquartered in Osaka, Sharp employs more than 55,580 people worldwide as of June 2011.

Its subsidiary, Sharp Solar, has been a leading supplier of silicon photovoltaic solar cells and now offers solar TV. It was rated the number one producer of solar PV systems in terms of revenues during Q1 2010.
