Last turbine of Son La hydro power plant joins Vietnam grid
Vietnam’s largest hydro power has launched its last turbine, fulfiling its work on time for 2012.
The plant in Son La province placed its first turbine into operation in December 2010 and the fifth one in April this year. To date, its five turbines have generated over 10 billion kWh of electricity for the national grid.
When fully operational, the 2,400MW plant, which costs US$1.8 billion, will be able to supply 10.2 billion kWh of electricity a year.
The inauguration of the work is expected to be held in December this year.
