APSCO bags two wins at the Asian Oil and Gas Awards

Modern facilities that optimise energy management are what earned them these awards.

From energy management to waste and water management, the Arabian Petroleum Supply Company (APSCO) has emerged as a leader in a world increasingly focused on sustainability and environmental facilities with its Into-Plane facility, located at the bustling King Abdul Aziz International Airport in Jeddah.

The Into-Plane facility boasts several features. First is its solar power system, a standout feature of the facility, capable of generating 110% of the facility's power demand. The surplus energy is also redirected to support neighbouring areas, promoting a sense of community and sustainability.

The facility also incorporates an energy management system that ensures efficient energy usage, enabling APSCO to significantly reduce its overall energy consumption and contribute to a greener environment.

APSCO's facility is meticulously designed with proper ventilation and isolation measures, minimising energy wastage and ensuring a conducive working environment.

Another crucial aspect of sustainability is responsible waste management. APSCO's facility implements an efficient waste management system that promotes circularity, reducing waste and promoting reuse and recycling.

Additionally, recognizing the importance of responsible water usage, APSCO has implemented a robust water management system, ensuring optimal utilisation and conservation of this precious resource.

The Into-Plane facility was also granted the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification, by the Green Building Certification Institute, affirming that the project adheres to the v4 Building Design and Construction criteria, focusing on optimizing energy and water usage, minimising CO2 emissions, enhancing indoor air quality, and implementing efficient resource management systems.

The LEED certification underscores APSCO's dedication to clean energy and the decarbonization of its operations

This commendable effort has not gone unnoticed. APSCO's achievements in sustainability and environmental responsibility have been acknowledged through two prestigious awards: the Net-Zero Initiative of the Year - Saudi Arabia Award and the Water Management Initiative - Saudi Arabia Award at the recently concluded Asian Oil and Gas Awards. These accolades not only honour APSCO's dedication to sustainable practices but also serve as a testament to the positive impact of their initiatives on the environment and the community.

APSCO's innovative approach towards clean energy, efficient resource management, and community engagement sets a precedent for other organisations to follow suit. By taking significant strides towards a greener and more sustainable future, APSCO is showcasing its dedication to making a meaningful impact on both the environment and society at large.
