Eurus Energy commences partial operations of Japan’s largest onshore wind

The remaining section of the Ashikawa Wind Farm will be completed by Spring 2025.

Eurus Energy has started the operations of the north section of the Ashikawa Wind Farm with a capacity of 68.8 megawatts (MW) upon completion of its construction.

In a statement, Eurus Energy said the south section which will have a 60 MW capacity will be completed by Spring 2025, making the onshore wind farm the largest in the country.

The Ashikawa Wind Farm, located in Toyotomi Town in Hokkaido is part of the Dohoku Wind Power Generation Project which includes six wind farms in the northern Hokkaido Area.

The power generated from the wind farm will be supplied to the Hokkaido Electric Power Network.

Ashikawa Wind Farm is expected to produce electricity that will meet the needs of around 94,000 average households and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 146,000 tonnes annually.
