SJVN unveils India's 1st multi-purpose green hydrogen project

The hydrogen production will be powered using solar power.

SJVN has launched India’s first multi-purpose green hydrogen project which is a combined heat and power located in Jhakri, Himachal Pradesh.

In a statement, the Ministry of Power said the project can produce 14 kilogrammes of green hydrogen daily for eight hours using alkaline electrolyser power by renewable energy from the 1.31-megawatt SJVN solar power plant in Shimla.

The power hydrogen produced will be stored in six storage tanks with a total capacity of 12 cubic metres.

The green hydrogen project could generate power through its fuel cell with a 25-kilowatt capacity. Aside from this, the generated power will be used for the High Velocity Oxygen Fuel Coating of the turbine's underwater parts.
