TNB and DayOne ink deal for 500 MW of renewable power

The agreement is under a 21-year term.

Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) and DayOne Data Centres have signed an agreement for up to 500 megawatts of renewable energy.

In a statement, the companies said the supply is under a corporate renewable energy supply scheme (CRESS) agreement. This will support data centre operations in Malaysia for 21 years.

The renewable energy will be backed by new solar generation capacity developed and operated by TNB subsidiary TNB Renewables, a wholly owned subsidiary of TNB.

DayOne's operations in Malaysia currently include two hyperscale campuses in Nusajaya Tech Park (NTP) and Kempas Tech Park (KTP).

Before this, DayOne and TNB have signed the fourth Electricity Supply Agreement (ESA) and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), under the Green Lane Pathway Initiative and One-Stop Center (OSC) for Data Centers. This advances key green initiatives, including rooftop solar via GSPARX, dark fiber connectivity through ALLO, and renewable energy solutions under CRESS.
