India issues over 2 GW of RE tenders in May

Meanwhile, around 2 GW of capacity were allocated to various developers.

India has issued over 2,000 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy tenders in May 2025.

According to JMK Research & Analytics, around 1,260 MW of the tenders were under project development, and the remaining 919 MW under Engineering, Procurement, and Construction.

Some of  the notable tenders last months were Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited (AEML) inviting bids for 500 MW/4,000 megawatt-hour (MWh) energy storage capacity, with an additional 250 MW/2,000 MWh offered under a greenshoe option. GUVNL also issued a 500 MW solar tender with Green Shoe option of additional capacity up to 500 MW.

India allocated 2,056 MW of renewable energy to various developers last month. The biggest was Adani bagging REC Power’s 1.5 gigawatt transmission project to evacuate power from Pumped Storage Projects.
