India issues 6.8 GW of renewable energy tenders in June
Meanwhile, nearly 2 GW of clean energy capacity were allocated to various developers.
India has issued 6,800 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy tenders in June 2025 under the project development category.
According to JMK Research’s latest report, the number includes Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI) call for bids for the development of a 2,000 MW ISTS- ISTS-connected solar with a 1,000 MW/4,000 megawatt-hour (MWh) energy storage system (ESS) component across India.
SECI is also seeking bids for a 1,200 MW solar project with 600 MW/ 3600 MWh ESS, also Pan-India.
For auctions completed, JMK said about 1,570 MW of battery energy storage system (BESS) capacity and 312 MW of renewable energy capacity were allocated to various developers.
Standalone BESS tenders accounted for 83% of the total allotted capacity, thanks to the government’s push in the form of Viability Gap Funding and falling battery costs.
