India unlocks hydropower potential with over 60 pumped storage projects
Around 6 GW of these are already operating.
India is bolstering its renewable energy efforts with over 60 hydropower pumped storage projects at various stages of development as of the end of June.
According to the country’s Ministry of Power, the projects include 10 commissioned facilities with a combined capacity of 6.2 gigawatts (GW). There are also eight projects with an aggregate capacity of 8.5 GW that are under construction.
Meanwhile, five projects with a capacity of 5.8 GW have been concurred by CEA. Meanwhile, 46 others with an aggregate capacity of 64.8 GW are under survey and investigation for the preparation of DPRs.
