ADB appoints new country director in PH
Country director Andrew Jeffries has years of expertise in the energy industry.
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has announced the appointment of Andrew Jeffries as country director for the Philippines.
“Jeffries will lead ADB operations in the Philippines, the bank’s host country, with an active portfolio of around $13b. He will oversee the implementation of ADB’s Country Partnership Strategy 2024–2029 and manage ADB’s relationships with the government, private sector, and development partners,” ADB said.
Jeffries has more than 34 years of professional experience, including over 18 years with ADB. Before his current appointment, he was Advisor for Energy Transition Mechanism and Partnerships for region-wide energy transition.
He was ADB’s Country Director for Viet Nam from 2020 to 2023, whilst from 2016 to 2020, he was the Director of the Southeast Asia Energy Division, where he managed the division’s investments in energy infrastructure, policy advice, sector reform assistance, and promotion of regional energy cooperation. He also headed ADB’s energy sector operations in India from 2013 to 2016, and before that, led energy sector infrastructure projects in the South Asia subregion.
Before joining ADB in 2007, Jeffries was Senior Vice President at Fortis Capital Corp., following his position as Vice President in the Global Energy Division of GE Capital’s Structured Finance Group in the US.
