NexGen Energy secures 1.7 GW of wind energy deals in PH
The projects represent $2.5b in prospective investment.
NexGen Energy Corp., through its wind development arm subsidiary, has secured three new onshore wind energy service contracts totalling 1.7 gigawatts in the Philippines.
In a bourse filing, the company said its subsidiary Airstream Renewables Corp. received the contracts and corresponding certificates of registration for the projects. These have a value of around $2.5b in prospective investment.
One of the contracts is for the 600 megawatt (MW) Pangasinan Onshore Wind Project that will utilise an 8-kilometre (km), 230-kilovolt (kV) transmission line to connect to the NGCP 230kV Labrador Substation.
Contract for the 600 MW Samar Onshore Wind Project was also secured. This project will be connected via a 7 km 138kV transmission line to the NGCP 138kV Victoria Substation.
The third project is the 500 MW Nueva Ecija Onshore Wind facility, which will be connected via a 15 km 230kV line to the NGCP 230kV Sampaloc Substation.
“These three new onshore wind projects—Pangasinan, Samar, and Nueva Ecija—position Airstream Renewables as one of the most competitive large-scale wind developers in the country,” said Eric Roxas, president of NexGen Energy Corp.
