ACEN aims for 2027 start for Palauig solar farm in PH
The energy firm plans to include a 347 megawatt battery energy storage system.
ACEN eyes the commercial operation of its Palauig Solar Farm in he province of Zambales in the Philippines by 2027.
The company said in a bourse filing that the solar farm will be implemented in three phases, with staggered commercial operation dates. The earliest will be in the second half (H2) of 2027 and the latest in H2 2028.
ACEN eyes increasing the project’s capacity to 420 megawatt-peak (MWp) from the proposed 300 MWp. This does not include the farm’s 347 megawatt battery energy storage system (BESS), with a projected commercial operation date in H2 of 2027.
The Palauig solar facility is 88.19% complete as of November 2025. The plant is expected to have a 25-year operational lifespan, while the battery units are projected to last 15 years.
ACEN noted that no final investment decision has yet been made regarding the 347 MW BESS project.
The project is scheduled for a public hearing on Jan. 28-29, an initial step in the environmental impact assessment process before the ECC is granted.
