NTPC Green approves GAIL JV, adds 37.5-MW solar capacity in Gujarat

The renewables joint venture and solar project will likely boost its commercial capacity.

NTPC Green Energy Limited has approved plans to form a 50:50 joint venture (JV) company with GAIL (India) Limited and has disclosed the commercial operation of a 37.5-megawatt (MW) solar capacity at a project in Bhuj, Gujarat, the company said in separate stock exchange filings.

The Board of Directors approved the JV, which will focus on renewable energy projects.

The solar project—under Ayana Renewable Power Four Private Limited, a subsidiary of Ayana Renewable Power Pvt. Ltd. and a wholly owned subsidiary of ONGC NTPC Green Private—will increase the NGEL Group’s commercial capacity to 8,347.78 MW from 8,310.28 MW.
