Lightsource bp sells five Australian solar projects to Aula Energy
Total capacity of projects is 1,037MWdc across NSW, QLD, and VIC.
Lightsource bp has sold a portfolio of Australian solar assets to Aula Energy, the company announced.
The deal includes five operational solar photovoltaic (PV) projects—Wellington, Wellington North, West Wyalong, Woolooga and Wunghnu—with a combined capacity of 1,037MWdc. The projects are located across New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria.
Together, the facilities generate about 2,230GWh of low-carbon electricity each year, enough to power more than 380,000 households and avoid an estimated 1.6 million tonnes of CO₂e emissions annually.
Adam Pegg, chief operating officer for Asia-Pacific at Lightsource bp, said the transaction marks a milestone for the company, as the projects were its first assets delivered in Australia.
He added that the company is now focusing on hybrid renewable developments combining solar, wind, and battery storage to deliver more flexible energy solutions.
Lightsource bp said it is continuing to advance more than 9.5GW of solar, wind and battery storage projects across the Asia-Pacific region, supported by policy incentives accelerating renewable deployment.
The transaction completes the sale of the first utility-scale solar projects developed by Lightsource bp in Australia.
A previously announced deal for the same assets in late 2023 did not proceed due to regulatory timing constraints, with both parties agreeing to end the earlier process.
