Cosmo Eco Power and Fuji Electric sign virtual PPA for wind power supply
Fuji Electric will get environmental value from about 10 million kWh/year.
Cosmo Eco Power Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Cosmo Energy Holdings Co., Ltd., and Fuji Electric Co., Ltd. have signed a virtual power purchase aagreement (PPA) to supply renewable energy environmental value from wind power.
Under the agreement, Fuji Electric will receive environmental value equivalent to approximately 10 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity annually. The energy will be generated by the Enshu Wind Power Plant, a 6.33-megawatt facility currently under construction by Cosmo Eco Power.
The credits will be applied to Fuji Electric’s Matsumoto Plant in Nagano, which manufactures power semiconductors. The deal is expected to reduce CO₂ emissions by approximately 4,210 tons per year, equivalent to about 1,700 households.
The agreement supports Fuji Electric’s “Environmental Vision 2050,” which targets a reduction of more than 46% in greenhouse gas emissions from production activities by fiscal year 2030, compared with fiscal 2019 levels.
The company is pursuing this goal through measures such as improving energy efficiency, installing on-site solar power systems, and increasing procurement of renewable energy. It aims to raise the share of renewable energy in its total electricity consumption to 55% by 2030, up from 9% in fiscal 2024.
Cosmo Eco Power said the deal aligns with its goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 and expanding renewable energy deployment in Japan.
