India's battery-run three-wheelers chugging successfully in Delhi

The autorickshaws cost Rs60,000-1.2m.

According to reports, the launching of the battery-operated electronic rickshaws last Friday spurred bigger awareness towards going green among the public.

The new three-wheelers are noise-free and do not emit smoke. They are slighty bigger compared to the regular ones, and they can carry 4 to 6 passengers.

The battery-operated autorickshaws are also more profitable for operators as they are cheaper than an LPG auto, according to Zafar Faridi, CEO of Dianzi Enterprises which launched the vehicles.
