AP hyrdo plant commences operations

Set to deliver 55GWh of energy.

Hedcor Sabangan Inc, a subsidiary of Aboitiz Power Corp, has started commercial operations of the 14MW Sabangan hydroelectric power plant in Mountain Province.

According to a research note from Maybank ATR Kim Eng, inaugurated last 6 May, the plant is now set to deliver 55GWh of energy to the Luzon grid.

Using a modern run-of-river system, the Sabangan hydro project harnesses the natural force of the Chico River by diverting part of the water into the system and the water then exits the powerhouse and goes back to the river.

Here's more from Maybank ATR Kim Eng:

AP secures PHP32b loan for Cebu plant: Therma Visayas Inc, a subsidiary of Aboitiz Power Corp, signed an omnibus agreement with a consortium of lender-banks to obtain loans and credit accommodations in the amount of up to PHP31.97b.

Proceeds will be used to finance construction of the 300MW coal-fired power plant to be built at Toledo City, Cebu and expected to be completed by 2018.
