Thai court rules 90MW Thep Sathit Wind Farm project illegal

Building a wind farm in Chaiyaphum was deemed "misuse of land".

Thep Sathit Wind Farm Co's 90MW project in Chaiyaphum was ruled illegal as the court revealed that renting plots inteded for distribution to farmers under the agricultural land reform scheme was deemed misuse. The land in which the project will be built was desginated for farming purposes.

Thep Sathit Wind Farm Co's rent was calculated at 32,000baht per rai/year. The project was expected to generate a capacity of 90MW and is projected to cost around 6 billion baht.

The land lease was signed in September 2009.
