EVN commissions 600 MW Thai Binh-1 coal-fired power plant

The two 300MW units will generate 3.3TWh/year.

Vietnamese national power utility Electricity of Viet Nam (EVN) has connected the 600 MW Thai Binh-1 coal-fired power plant to the national grid. The project consists of two 300 MW units that are expected to generate 3.3 TWh/year, according to Enerdata.

"It was developed by EVN, in partnership with Electricity Generation Corporation 3 (EVNGENCO 3). Total investment exceeded VND 26,500bn (US$1.16bn), of which 85% were finance through a loan from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and 15% from EVN." Enerdata said.
