Indonesia breaks ground for $5.87b thermal projects

Two new thermal plants have a capacity of 4GW.

President Joko Widodo led the groundbreaking for the development of two thermal plants, and inaugurated the operation of another thermal power plant in Banten province. The three projects have a total cost of $5.87b.

The two thermal power plants are 2x1,000MW PLTU Jawa 7 and 2x1,000MW PLTU 9 and 10. The operational plant is 660MW PLTU IPP Banten.
