India's power generation capacity exceeded 300GW mark

It's popping the champagne on increasing renewable energy use.

India's total installed electricity generation capacity has surged past the 300GW mark, including 42GW from renewables.

According to Power Minister Piyush Goyal's written statement in response to the Rajya Sabha, the private sector's cumulative installed power generation capacity stood at 1,24,995.51 MW as of June 30 this year while that of central plants is recorded at 76,296.76 MW.

India has generated 12.01b units of power from renewables. The country's current target from cleaner sources this year is 70b units, according to Minister Goyal.
