EMA to form energy supply resilience advisory panel

The panel will be headed by Tan Chin Hwee.

Singapore’s Energy Market Authority (EMA) is creating an Advisory Panel on Energy Supply Resilience that is mandated to help in determining strategies to enhance the reliability of the country’s fuel supply and energy system.

In a statement, EMA said the panel will be led by Tan Chin Hwee, who served as the first Asian Asia-Pacific CEO of Trafigura before he stepped down in September 2023.

EMA said the panel will examine and recommend strategies that will mitigate potential disruption and uncertainties in the energy supply chain which covers upstream sources and domestic production facilities, and advise the authority.

“The panel will take into consideration system interdependencies, as well as trade-offs that may be required to balance resilience, sustainability, and competitiveness,” the EMA said.

Tan is also the chairman of SGTradex Services and is a member of the Climate Impact X Advisory Council.

He was also a part of the Emerging Stronger Taskforce under the Future Economy Council, the Trade and Connectivity Standard Committee of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the Financial Centre Advisory Panel of the Monetary Authority of Singapore and the International Maritime Centre Advisory Committee 2030 of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore.
