GEM names new executive director
Justin Locke is replacing the organisation’s founder, Ted Nace.
Global Energy Monitor (GEM) has announced the appointment of Justin Locke as the organisation’s next executive director.
In a statement, GEM said Locke is replacing founder Ted Nace, who is retiring after seventeen years of leadership.
Locke is globally recognised for his leadership in energy and climate policy. He has twenty years of global climate leadership and non-profit management, recently serving as managing director for RMI’s Global South Program.
“In a complex and rapidly evolving world, GEM’s role as the gold standard for open-source, high-quality global energy infrastructure data is more vital than ever,” Locke said.
“By providing trusted, freely accessible information, GEM empowers informed decisions and meaningful discourse to shape the future of our energy systems,” he added.
