GPSC posts 419,476 million BTU energy savings in decarbonisation drive
LNG imports reduced by over 8,000 tons annually.
Global Power Synergy Public Company Limited (GPSC) has reported progress in its decarbonisation program across 12 power generation units.
Global Power Synergy Public Company Limited achieved energy savings of 419,476 million BTU, reduced LNG imports by over 8,000 tons per year, and generated annual cost savings of about ($4.66m (THB150m).
The company also cut greenhouse gas emissions by 22,420 tons of CO₂ equivalent annually.
GPSC said it reduced carbon intensity by 10% in 2025 and remains on track for a 35% reduction by 2030, with a Net Zero target by 2050.
Sirimet Leepagorn, president and acting chief operating officer of GPSC, said the company is improving efficiency through technology and clean energy integration to maintain stable power supply whilst lowering emissions.
The company said its 12 efficiency projects also reduce exposure to LNG price volatility and geopolitical risks.
GPSC has introduced AI-based Real-Time Optimization systems to improve plant operations, monitoring, and planning, along with proprietary software for electricity and steam scheduling. It also improved coordination between operations and maintenance teams to increase reliability.
Looking ahead, GPSC will expand renewable energy investments and develop SMR nuclear technology, CCS systems, and hydrogen energy solutions.
PTT Group said these initiatives support energy security, cost efficiency, and Thailand’s Net Zero transition.
