PH installs over 1 GW of power projects as of November 2025
Twelve of the fourteen new power plants utilise renewable energy technologies.
The Philippines has installed over 1 gigawatt of power projects as of November 2025, amidst efforts to complete 200 power facilities.
In a statement, the country’s Department of Energy (DOE) said 956 megawatts (MW) of new power generation capacity were added to the Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao grids, complemented by 160 MW of new energy storage capacity located in Luzon and Visayas.
Broken down, the 956 MW of new generation capacity comes from 14 power plants, of which 12 are using renewable energy technologies, one is an oil-based power plant, and another is a natural gas-fired power plant. Most of these entered commissioning in the second half of 2025.
“To help ensure that committed capacity is delivered as scheduled, the DOE is implementing active project monitoring across generation and energy storage developments,” the department said.
“This includes close coordination with project proponents and NGCP on grid interconnection readiness, regular tracking of construction and commissioning milestones, and early identification of bottlenecks that may affect timelines, such as permitting constraints, right-of-way issues, equipment delivery risks, and site-level implementation challenges,” it added.
