PH to launch fifth round of offshore wind auctions in Q3 2025

Notice of Auction and terms will soon be released.

The Philippines’ Department of Energy has announced that the fifth Round of the Green Energy Auction (GEA-5) dedicated for offshore wind projects will be held in the third quarter of 2025, fueling efforts to achieve offshore wind power generation by 2028.

According to the department, GEA-2 aims to secure market access for offshore wind developers, ensuring long-term demand for their generation capacities; serve as a timeline guide for stakeholders; and advance the Philippines' energy transition objectives, helping to diversify the country's energy mix and reduce its dependence on fossil fuels.

The department will soon release the Notice of Auction (NOA) and Terms of Reference (TOR), outlining the timeline, procedures, and guidelines for GEA-5 participation. Evaluation is ongoing for position papers from stakeholders to integrate valuable insights.
