Siemens lists energy unit in India

Two independent firms were formed following the demerger and listing.

Germany-based Siemens AG has completed the listing of its energy business in India on BSE Limited and the National Stock Exchange of India Limited as Siemens Energy India Limited.

In a statement, Siemens AG said the demerger and listing of Siemens Energy India Limited created two independent companies – Siemens Limited, India and Siemens Energy India Limited – each focused on its core business, strategy, and capital allocation.

The development follows the November 2023 agreement between Siemens AG and Siemens Energy AG “to accelerate the unbundling of the business activities of the Indian subsidiary of Siemens.”

Siemens Energy AG will acquire a controlling stake in Siemens Energy India Limited, subject to applicable regulatory approvals.

Siemens AG holds 69% in Siemens Energy India Limited, and Siemens Energy AG holds 6% in Siemens Energy India Limited, with the remainder in free float.

This strategic step enables both entities to better serve their markets with tailored go-to-market approaches and unlocks greater value for shareholders.
