Singapore-Sweden collaboration to fuel ASEAN’s power connectivity
They will focus on advancing technology and infrastructure.
The Energy Market Authority (EMA) of Singapore and the Ministry of Climate and Enterprise of Sweden have signed a partnership that will enhance collaboration on regional energy interconnectivity and the development of clean energy technologies.
In a statement, EMA said the memorandum of understanding will make way for the advancement of High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) technologies and transmission infrastructure, including subsea cables. It will also fuel the ASEAN Power Grid roll out and support opportunities for multilateral and multidirectional electricity trading across the region.
The deal will facilitate knowledge exchange on regional interconnectivity, ammonia and hydrogen, nuclear safety, as well as cooperation at multilateral fora to accelerate Singapore’s decarbonisation pathways.
“We look forward to working with Sweden to advance regional decarbonisation efforts and achieve a sustainable energy future for all,” said Puah Kok Keong, chief executive of EMA.
