ReNew Power appoint new CFO

The company also hired a new general counsel and a chief growth officer.

Renewable energy firm ReNew Power has appointed Kedar Upadhye as the Group’s new chief financial officer (CFO).

Upadhye was the president and global CFO of Cipla, one of India’s largest publicly traded pharmaceutical companies, prior to joining ReNew, the company said in a statement.

He was also the vice president and head of Finance and Investor Relations for New York Stock Exchange-listed Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, before joining Cipla. He also held leadership positions at PepsiCo and Thermax.

“I am excited to join the inspiring growth journey at ReNew when it is in the process of expanding its footprint and impact multi-fold. I aspire to be a strong partner for value creation, stakeholder delight, and best-in-class governance at ReNew,” Upadhye, who has 22 years of experience, said.

He also earned his Master of Business Administration degree from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, and is a qualified company secretary and a cost accountant, Renew said.

Aside from Upadhye, Vikash Jain also joined as global general counsel and Vikram Kapur in the newly created chief growth officer position which will help in the company’s new business such as green hydrogen and carbon markets, and international partnerships “to enable the core and nascent businesses.”

ReNew’s gross total portfolio rose nearly 20% to around 12.1 gigawatts (GW) at the end of April from 10.2GW at the start of the year.
