Korea's Shinsung Solar achieves 20.03% cell efficiency
Shinsung Solar's crystalline solar cell has achieved a 20.03% efficiency rate with the Laser Doped Selective Emitter technology.
The Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems verified the rate of the cell that uses a six-inch p-type Cz wafer.
Shinsung, a Korean cell manufacturer, had already achieved an efficiency rate of 19.6% in 2010 by using LDSE; this further increase was also achieved by the same technology.
“The use of the existing screen printing line reduces the cost required for processing and if the optimized commercialization technology is used for mass production, the company is expected to have the strongest competitiveness in the global solar market,” commented a Shinsung Solar Energy representative. “We are a company that specializes in eco-friendly solar energy by developing new technology and by strengthening research and development competitiveness, which is a strategy essential to survive in the fiercely competitive solar market.”
