EEW Group triples South Korean capacity to ride offshore wind boom
It will be able to process up to 200,000 tonnes of steel.
EEW Group is expanding its South Korean production facility, EEW KHPC, in Gwangyang, Jeollanam-do Province, to meet rising demand for offshore wind foundations across Southeast Asia.
From the second half of 2027, the plant will be capable of manufacturing monopiles, pin piles, jacket components, and legs with diameters up to 13 meters, unit weights of 2,500 tons, and lengths up to 120 meters — up from its current specialisation in components weighing up to 900 tonnes.
The facility will be able to process up to 200,000 tonnes of steel into LSAW pipes, raising annual production capacity from approximately 60,000 tonnes to more than 200,000 tonnes.
To support the expansion, EEW Group has acquired additional production halls and adjacent land near the existing site, more than doubling available production area.
Port storage capacity will also expand to fully utilise the site's direct port access as output increases. The project is expected to create around 200 new skilled jobs in the region.
"The development of the offshore wind industry in Southeast Asia will gain immense momentum over the next few years," said Deok-Han Kim and Kwan-Gyu Tak, Managing Directors of EEW KHPC.
