Indian IPP Azure Power commissions 137MW of solar power system

The facility is in Chitradurga district.

Azure Power commissioned 137 MW of solar in March 2017, including the 130 MW solar power system in Chitradurga district, Karnataka, under the Karnataka Solar Policy 2014-2021, and 7 MW of solar at defense establishments under Ministry of Defense, Government of India, according to Mercom Capital Group. 

The Chitradurga Project in Karnataka comprises of three projects, a 50 MW and two 40 MW projects, according to the company. The 7 MW of solar developed at defense establishments comprises of a 5 MW solar project at Ambajhari and a 2 MW solar project at Bhandara, stated Mercom’s source at Azure Power.

"Azure Power is also planning to expand its EPC services for defense projects, which will add to the company’s expertise in the sector, added Mercom’s source at Azure Power. According to Mercom’s India Solar Project Tracker, Azure Power has commissioned 627 MW of solar projects and projects aggregating 392 MW are under various stages of development," said Mercom Capital Group.
