MGen eyes 1.5 GW of additional renewable energy capacity

It also plans to expand the Toledo coal-fired plant.

Meralco PowerGen Corp. (MGen) is targeting to increase its power generation portfolio through the addition of 1,500 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy.

In a bourse filing, the company said this will be implemented through its wholly owned subsidiary MGen Renewable Energy Inc.

MGen also announced plans to develop Atimonan One Energy, Inc. as a coal plant. Furthermore, the company eyes expanding the 80 MW Toledo coal-fired power plant.

“It is also in the process of evaluating and selecting the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor for the said projects,” it said.
