ACE Power bags permit for 200 MW Aussie solar project

The facility will also feature a battery storage system.

ACE Power has secured development approval for its 200 megawatt (MW) solar farm near Narrogin in Western Australia.

According to consulting firm Land Insights - Planning, Design, Environment, which led the planning and approvals process over 18 months, the permit issued by the Regional Development Assessment Panel allows the project to “support Western Australia’s clean energy transition whilst contributing to local energy resilience and economic growth.”

The Narrogin project will be located off Wanerie Road and the Great Southern Highway on private land approximately 4 kilometres south of Narrogin in regional Western Australia.

It will also have a 200 MW, 4-hour battery energy storage system (BESS). Its capacity can power 64,000 homes and avoid 137,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.

“If approved and constructed, the land will remain under agricultural management with sheep able to graze amongst the solar panels,” ACE Power said.
