ACEN completes turbine installation at 600 MW Lao wind project

Nearly 300,000 homes will benefit from the wind facility.

ACEN has completed the installation of all turbines at the 600 megawatt Monsoon Wind project in Laos.

In a statement, the company said a total of 133 wind turbines were installed for the project, where it holds a 25% interest.

“Once operational, the wind project, the largest and first cross-border wind farm in Asia, is expected to generate nearly 1,500 gigawatt-hours of renewable energy annually for export into the national grid of Vietnam,” ACEN said.

The Monsoon Wind project, located in Sekong and Attapeu in Laos, is expected to energise around 298,150 houses.

ACEN and its partners aim to complete the project within the year.
