Bangladesh govt to provide new rural power connections in 4 years

The Bangladeshi government has approved a project providing 18 lakh rural power connections by next four years under the Rural Electrification Board.

It would be completed by December 2015.

"Under the project, 48,000 km power supply lines will be setup in 453 upazilas under 70 Palli Biddut Samities,” he saidaccording to State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Mohammad Enamul Haque.

He added that the electricity connection would be made as per population ratio of the upazilas.  

“According to the pre-assessment, 100 km or more than that power supply lines will be setup in each and every constituency of the lawmakers,” he noted.
