Chinese consortium to set up 300MW Bangladesh plant

A Chinese consortium will set up a 300-megawatt dual-fuel peaking power station at Ghorashal.

The consortium is composed of the China National Technical Import and Export Cooperation and the China National Machinery Import and Export Corporation.

The Chinese consortium has won the bid for its lowest financial offer of US$188.6 million for constructing the plant, an official said.

The Chinese consortium was selected out of six bidders for its lowest financial offer and technical capacity for installing the gas-cum-furnace oil-based power station.

It is hopeful of awarding contract to the consortium within a month if Bangladesh's cabinet purchase committee approves it at its next meeting, the official added.
