Chinese firms given 3 Bangladesh power projects

The Bangladesh cabinet approved proposals for the construction of three power plants.

The three power projects are 250-megawatt extension of Barapukuria coal-fired plant, Ghorasal 300-450 MW  gas-fired combined cycle power plant and Shahjibazar 300 MW gas-fired combined cycle plant.

The cabinet body also okayed a proposal for one-year extension of Aggeko’s 40 MW Khulna rental power plant.

Finance Minister AMA Muhith chaired the meeting.

Chinese companies have been given the contracts for the construction of three power plants.

Muhith said Chinese companies were given the projects as there has been a tremendous improvement in Chinese technology.
