Indian competition watchdog clears NTPC‘s two acquisitions

It will wholly own the Northeastern utility NEEPCO.

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) approved NTPC’s acquisition of two utilities, according to two separate announcements.

Following the approval, NTPC will take a 74.50% share in THDC India and a 100% stake in North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Ltd (NEEPCO).

The remaining 25.5% stake in THDC India is held by the Uttar Pradesh government.

THDC and NEEPCO are both engaged in power generation from thermal power and renewables.
