Indian renewables firms Greenko, ReNew win 1.2 GW of energy storage projects

The tender by SECI was launched in August 2019.

Indian renewables company Greenko Group and India-based independent power producer ReNew Power have won the auction conducted by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) for 1.2 GW of solar, wind, and energy storage projects with guaranteed peak power supply, according to a report by Mercom India.

Greenko won the bid for 900 MW of projects at a peak power tariff of $0.086 (₹6.12)/ kWh, whilst ReNew Power bagged 300 MW of projects $0.096 (₹6.85)/ kWh.

SECI issued the tender in August 2019. Projects were expected to have at least two components - an energy storage system (ESS) component and a renewable energy (RE) generating component, which can be a solar system, a wind energy system, or a hybrid system of both technologies.
