Juniper Green Energy commissions 60 MWh merchant BESS in Rajasthan
The 60 MWh project is the company’s first operational merchant BESS.
Juniper Green Energy Limited has commissioned 60 megawatt-hours (MWh) of its 100 MWh merchant battery energy storage system (BESS) project at Bikaner, Rajasthan.
In a statement, Juniper Green Energy said the project, completed through its subsidiary Juniper Green Cosmic Private Limited, represents its first operational merchant BESS.
The commissioned capacity has completed trial operations and received approval from the Northern Regional Load Despatch Centre.
The remaining 40 MWh capacity is expected to be commissioned shortly. Upon commissioning of the full 100 MWh, the project will become one of the largest operating BESS in India.
Meanwhile, Juniper Green Energy has also installed 400 MWh of BESS capacity at Fatehgarh, Rajasthan, which is expected to be commissioned by the first quarter of 2026.
“The commissioning of our first merchant BESS underscores Juniper Green Energy’s execution strength and strategic focus on emerging opportunities in energy storage. We view BESS as a key value-accretive asset class that complements our renewable portfolio and enhances diversification while supporting grid reliability,” said Ankush Malik, CEO, Juniper Green Energy.
