Malaysian firm to develop Vietnam power plant

TOYO-Ink will develop a 2,000MW Song Hau 2 thermal power plant in Hau Giang, Vietnam.

The Malaysia-based company intends to invest about $2.5billion for the construction of the power plant, which will be located in the Song Hau Power Centre in Chau Thanh district.

The coal and petroleum-fuelled power plant is expected to begin generating electricity in 2018.

The SHPC was designed to have a total generating capacity of 5,200MW with three thermal plants.

The first Song Hau 1 power plant of 1,200 MW capacity is being developed by the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group and is set to be operational by 2013, reports vovnews.vn.
