Masdar, Jordan gov’t to develop 1 GW wind project
They will also explore the potential of a green hydrogen plant.
Abu Dhabi-based Masdar and the Jordanian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources have signed a joint development agreement to develop a one-gigawatt wind project with a battery energy storage system.
In a statement, Masdar added that they also signed a memorandum to examine the feasibility of a green hydrogen plant near the Port of Aqaba to generate “the most cost-competitive hydrogen.”

“With substantial wind and solar resources that can be used to generate large amounts of renewable energy, and produce cost-competitive green hydrogen and green fuels, Jordan has the potential to become a global powerhouse in the green energy transition,” Masdar CEO Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi said.
Masdar is present in Jordan through its joint venture with Finnish investment and asset management group Taaleri which launched the 200 megawatts Baynouna Solar Park.
