Neyveli Lignite to build 2,000MW coal- based plant

The state owned power utility  Neyveli Lignite Corporation would set up a 2,000 Mw power station at Nagapattinam district in Tamil Nadu.



The work on the Rs 10,000 crore coal-based station would commence next month and was expected to be commissioned in three years, A R Ansari, CMD  of NLC said here, after flag hoisting ceremony  at Neyveli on Republic Day.

The Corporation has also planned to set up a 2,000 Mw coal- based thermal power project in Uttar Pradesh in association with Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyur Utpadan Nigam Ltd, he said.

Besides, two 250 MW thermal power units at Barsingar Town in Rajasthan was also planned, he said.
