NHPC keen on Bhutan projects

NHPC is trying to meet the December 2011 deadline for preparation of detailed project reports  for hydroelectric projects in Bhutan.

These are the 670 MW Chamkharchhu-I and the 1,800 MW Kuri-Gongri hydroelectric projects.

Various survey and investigation work for this purpose is presently underway at the project sites.

Besides, National Hydroelectric Power Corporation has recently awarded the contract for environmental studies for the Chamkharchhu-I HEP to WAPCOS. Post DPR-approval, NHPC will also implement the project in joint venture with the Bhutanese government.
